It was an exciting end to the week last week; we’ve been shortlisted for the Tech for Good award, meaning we’re a Prolific North Champions finalist! Each year, Prolific North holds an award programme to recognise the achievements of companies, teams and individuals working across the North of England in the creative, digital, tech, media and marketing sectors. This year, we have been shortlisted for the award, alongside four other finalists. Want to hear how we got there and what for? What we’ve been working on

On 18th March 2020, the National Emergencies Trust launched the Coronavirus Appeal, to get rapid support to those affected by the pandemic. As the National Emergencies Trust’s digital partners, we began to build an innovative, fully interactive data dashboard. This transforms thousands of lines of live grants data into valuable, accessible insights for all. We wanted to make a positive impact where it matters most through this project; prepare for future national emergencies and ensure that we were making impactful change for good.

As Alcimi is a founding patron of the National Emergencies Trust, we built this platform as benefit-in-kind. Due to how quickly donations were being raised, there were reams of live grants data in real-time showing the needs being supported, communities reached, geographic reach of funds and more. The objective was to build a data dashboard that would provide an easy way to analyse this raw data robustly. We wanted to do it at speed in order to make insights more accessible, and fast. 

Why we entered 

We’ve been shortlisted for the award because of our work constructing the data dashboard for the National Emergencies Trust. For the charity sector, we believe that this is a valuable tool to ensure that, to the best of their ability, the charity sector can underpin equitable decision-making. Alongside this, the data dashboard creates absolute transparency for donors, trustees and stakeholders. This allows more integrity, effectiveness, and efficiency in processes due to having accurate and accessible data for those who need it. In addition, it supports a collaborative approach with the wider charity sector. 

Prolific North Champions Finalist 

As a digital transformation agency, we truly believe in the power of technology for innovation. When we know we can make an instrumental change for good, we further our limits to reach new objectives that will create an innovative product. Through our assistance in the Coronavirus Appeal, we reflected on our work as digital partners. And consequently thought about what would, digitally, help the National Emergencies Trust for their next appeal. We’re proud of the change we have made and hope that we continue to do even more!
